Acer Aspire One D260A 260-A NAV70 Netbook Screen Replacement

In this tutorial I will show you how to disassemble and replace a cracked broken LCD screen on Acer Aspire One D260A 260-A Laptop Netebooks Model: NAV70. The Acer Aspire One D260A 260-A NAV70 model comes with 10.1 inch WSVGA widescreens, which after the screen removal you will find out has part number B101AW06 v.1 or N101L6-L0D on it.

The first thing is to find the right replacement screen from the links below. Note that the Acer Aspire 260-A netbook screens are same and fully compatible.

Remove netbook battery

Before starting the display replacement remove the netbook battery. This is very important to avoid the laptop malfunctioning.

At the two sides of the laptop use a flat screwdriver to remove the screw covers.

Next is to remove the screwdrivers after taking off the covers. Keep the screws safe.

Put your fingers between the screen and the plastic bezel as in the picture on the right and pull firmly. Do this on all sides of the screen.

Pull out the bezel from the hinges area. The trick is to pull up until it comes off. Use the picture on the right as a guide.

After removing the screen bezel unscrew the two top screws holding the screen to the back cover. Click on any of the images in this blog to enlarge.

Place the screen face-down on the keyboard area and remove the screen ribbon cable connection. Before doing this disconnection peel up the clear tape holding the connection together.

At this point the Acer Aspire One D250-A screen removal process is complete. Carry out the a new screen installtion by going through the process in reverse. Good Luck!

I purchased a replacement screen and followed your tutorial for the Acer Aspire 260-A screen.

I don’t seem to be getting any joy tho.

The same fault persists. The screen is working but no backlight. There is, on occasion a working backlight but that’s short lived and always accompanied by a high pitched whine coming from the net book.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

BTW your tutorial was spot on, everything was exactly as you have mentioned. Very easy to follow.

If you are getting a backlight problem from your new screen then that can only mean that the screen maybe faulty or you have a faulty display cable already existing.

To solve this you need to reinstall the original screen(the broken screen the netbook came with) and see if you notice any of the same problem on it. Eventhough the old screen maybe cracked you should still be able to see some parts of it working.

If the old screen happens to be working in some parts and does not give you the whining noise then you need to return the screen you ordered to the retailer and ask for another one as it may already be defective.

If the screen is doing the same as the new one you bought then simply have the display cable replace and this should solve the problem.

Hope this is helpful to you.
