Remove the Acer notebook battery from the laptop before starting the replacement. Removing the battery is essential as failure to do so may cause the laptop backlight or any other part to malfunction after the replacement.
Turn the laptop to you and use a flat screwdriver to remove the screwcovers covering the screws. Keep these covers safely.
Remove all screw in the laptop screen bezel with the aid of a precision screwdrivers.
The next thing is to put your fingers between the plastic bezel and the Acer laptop screen and pull the bezel on all sides to release it from the catches. If this proves a little hard use flat a object to carry this out. This must be done carefully to avoid snapping the screen bezel.
The Acer Aspire 5738, 5738ZG, 5738Z Laptop Screen series bezel is thin and will easily snap if the removal is done with excessive force. So use firm grip but do not pull too hard.
You should now see the internal part of the screen. Move the screen towards you a little and remove all side screws as shown in the pictures. Keep these screws seperately as they are different size from the rest of the screw in the replacement.
If your Acer laptop comes with a camera disconnect the cable to the camera at this point and remember to reconnect it during the installation of a new screen.
Place the LCD screen face-down and peel up the clear tape holding down the screen cable connection as shown in the image. This must be done with utmost care as the cable is very thin and fragile. Damaging the cable will require you to get a new cable replacement. The best practice is to hold the ribbon cable firmly and pull backwards.

At the bottom of the LCD screen you will find a pair of wires connected to the inverter. If the Acer Aspire 5738, 5738ZG or 5738Z laptop is the LED type then this will not exist. The laptop inverter provides enough power to the screen backlight.
At this point the screen removal process is complete. Carry out the process in reverse order to fit a new screen.
